Here at Modern Pediatric Dentistry & Orthodontics, we are proud to take care of your child’s dental health.

The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry and the American Academy of Pediatrics recommend that children have their first dental visit by age one or within six months of their first baby tooth erupting.

This early visit allows us to build a relationship with you and your child, identify any habits that could lead to future dental issues, and establish a comforting “Dental Home” for long-term prevention and care. Positive early experiences help lay the foundation for trust and healthy dental habits that last a lifetime.

Request an Appointment

If your child is already talking before their first visit, you can help shape their experience and make it enjoyable. Before the appointment, talk to your child in a positive, reassuring tone. Let them know that the dentist and the dental team will explain everything, so “nothing will be a surprise.” You can use simple, encouraging phrases like “We will count, brush, and paint your teeth.” Remember, your tone matters just as much as your words, if you feel comfortable and excited about the visit, your child is more likely to feel the same way.

We also encourage avoiding words that might cause fear, such as “pain,” “needle,” or “drill.” Instead, our team is trained to use positive, non-frightening language that helps children feel at ease while conveying the same information.

Reassure your child that the dentist and the team are their friends and that we will be gentle. Let them know our office is designed to be fun, with TVs on the ceiling, iPads, and plenty of toys to enjoy. A relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere is a key part of every visit! At Modern Pediatric Dentistry, our goal is to build your child’s confidence, ease any anxiety, and make every dental visit a positive experience—helping to foster a lifetime of healthy smiles.
